On Monday Deacon Hoyle is waiting outside my office with a folded report and a face like a man who has been rehearsing.

DeaconI am not here about me. I am here about the drawer. Ashby told me and I have decided I am not going to tell anybody else, and I want you to know that deciding that took me all weekend.

HalvardAnd what do you want?

DeaconI want my name in it. If there is a choice happening in this building I want my name in the part where somebody chose not to ruin a person.
